What the charity does

CFOR facilitates, provides trainings and makes publications within the UK, Europe and internationally, to increase awareness about diversity and dynamics of conflict. CFOR's purpose is to support the inherent capacity in community to work together to resolve polarisations, prevent violence and engage as multicultural societies.

Charitable objects

1.1 the charity’s objects are for the public benefit:1.1.1 to promote equality and diversity, by:(a) Reducing and eliminating discrimination, including discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability and age; (b) Advancing education and awareness of equality and diversity, including by establishing forums and panels and holding conferences on equality and diversity, and producing publications and film; (c) Increasing understanding between people from diverse backgrounds, including by way of facilitated interactive dialogue and by training individuals to facilitate such dialogue;(d) Carrying out research into and making reports to organisations and the public on, equality and diversity and discrimination issues; 1.1.2 to promote conflict resolution and reconciliation and conflict prevention with a view to relieving and preventing suffering, poverty and distress and building and maintaining social cohesion and trust within and between communities, individuals and organisations, by:(a) Investigating and identifying the causes of conflict; (b) Holding facilitated forums and training, and mediating between parties in conflict or parties who may potentially become involved in conflict; (c) Training people in skills to facilitate conflict resolution and reconciliation and resolve conflicts in their communities;(d) Raising public awareness of conflict resolution and reconciliation and conflict prevention, including by holding conferences and setting up forums and panels and disseminating publications on these subjects;e) carrying out research into matters relating to conflict resolution and reconciliation, mediation and conflict prevention, and publishing the results of that research;(f) Reducing distress arising from violent conflict and reducing tensions between ethnic-national groups and other groups in conflict, thus aiding the reconciliation process and helping to prevent further conflict;provided that all activities shall maintain or enhance the charity’s commitment to remaining impartial; and1.1.3 to further such other exclusively charitable purposes according to the law of England and Wales as the trustees in their absolute discretion from time to time determine including assisting other charities.
