The object of the cio is to advance and promote for the benefit of the public in theunited kingdom, europe and throughout the world:a) the resolution of relevant conflicts through the use of conciliation, mediation,adjudication, negotiation and other methods and procedures on the basis of respectfor the rule of law, internationally recognised human rights and the principles ofnon-violence and thereby relieve the social and economic costs of such relevantconflicts;b) the study of any discipline, including but not limited to domestic andinternational law, politics, economic, social and natural sciences, insofar as thesedisciplines or any of them may have a direct or indirect application to theunderstanding of the relevant conflicts and their resolution.in this clause the expression ‘relevant conflicts’ means any conflict or potentialconflict between nations, racial, ethnic, religious or tribal groups, corporations,commercial organisations or individuals throughout the world.
