What the charity does

Liberdade is an arts and social enterprise organisation that makes a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities in the north east of England

Charitable objects

The charity's objects (objects) are:3.1 to advance the education of the learning disabled community by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities and opportunities;3.2 to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people in the learning disabled community to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society, in particular by providing recreational, cultural and education facilities so that such people can participate more fully within the wider community; 3.3 to advance the education of the general public in order to increase awareness and understanding of the issues facing persons with learning disabilities;3.4 to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life; 3.5 to advance education for the benefit of the public in the arts;3.6 to preserve and protect the health and wellbeing of people, primarily but not limited to those with learning disabilities, by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, support and services not normally provided by the statutory authorities with particular focus on exercise, nutrition and fitness; and3.7 such other exclusively charitable purposes as the trustees may from time to time determine in accordance with the law of charity in England and Wales.
