Alsama Project

What the charity does

The charity operates education centres and provides cricket activities in conjunction with our sister charity Alsama Project in Lebanon. Alsama means 'Sky' in Arabic. We are offering new horizons for refugee children and women in areas of conflict in the Middle East by providing academic education and sport development, and by supporting social enterprises run by refugee women.

Charitable objects

The objects are specifically restricted to such purposes which are exclusively charitable and for the benefit of the public under the laws of England and Wales as the trustees shall in their absolute discretion determine, including (but not limited to):1 the relief of poverty or financial hardship among refugees and asylum seekers by providing grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty;2 acting as a resource for refugees and asylum seekers by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational, arts and other activities as a means of:(a) Advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals;(b) Advancing education;(c) Relieving unemployment;(d) Providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for refugees and asylum seekers who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons.
